Church Council Missions Nominating Personnel Stewardship Trustees

DEACONS

The congregation shall elect Deacons from the membership who shall be responsible for promotion of the spiritual well-being of the congregation.  They shall, by example, guide the congregation in the fulfillment of their membership vows of living the Christian life, in their attendance at worship, with their support of the missions and ministries of the church and in diligently seeking the spiritual welfare of the membership and the community.

Deacons shall be responsible for the visitation of newcomers, the sick, the shut-ins, and the members of the congregation.  For as Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior said;

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me ? just as you did it for one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me."   Matthew 25:35, 36 & 40

The Diaconate shall counsel with the minister(s) in relationship to the performance of their pastoral duties and make recommendations to the Church Council as may be deemed advisable and in the best interest of the church.

Deacon duties shall also include the preparation of the sanctuary for worship and the preparation of the Sacraments, the upkeep of the church membership roles, as well as other responsibilities as outlined in the church's bylaws.
