This "artist rendering" symbolizes the Christ Congregational Church, UCC's vision and core values of Faith, Spirituality, Communication, Acceptance and Love.
The red circle surrounding God represents our Faith and Spirituality. Because faith is not just believing because just believing is passive. Faith should be active - actively believing in and trusting God and, in the process growing in spirituality.
The Blue and Yellow circles surrounding You and Me represent Communication. It is the process of managing messages to create meaning. We need to actively be aware of what messages we manage and how they are received. Do our actions reflect our core values?
Represented by the intersection of the circles is Acceptance. Acceptance is a disposition to tolerate, recognize, acknowledge and include others. When the three primary colors intersect, and we accept others, we get wonderful secondary colors - a virtual rainbow of everybody.
The cross in the center, placing Jesus in the center of our lives, represents Love. According to Elbert Hubbard " Love grows by giving. The love we give away is the only love we keep." Growing, giving, and loving; who has taught us this better than anyone. In the Gospel of John, we read: "God so loved the world he gave his son." How active is this kind of love - it gives, it grows.
When you look at our vision, think about your actions and how they "Communicate our Values". And remember, as we are told in Proverbs chapter 29 verse 18 (KJV):
"WHERE THERE IS NO VISION, THE PEOPLE WILL PERISH"
