Church Council
The governing body of the church is the membership assembled in church meeting. During the May church meeting the membership shall elect church officers, council members-at-large, and members to serve on Administrative Boards and committees. Members from these boards and committees in addition to the minister(s), Church officers, Christian Education and music directors, and the members-at-large shall compose the executive body of the church, the Church Council.
The Church Council has the responsibility of coordinating programs, scheduling activities, recommending the budget to the annual meeting, determining policy, preparing the agenda for the annual and special meetings of the church, and appointing and assigning duties of special committees for tasks not assigned to one of the Boards of Administration. The council appoints the nominating committee annually and a pastoral search committee as needed. The council has jurisdiction for rules and policies regarding the use of church property. All of this will be accomplished in accordance with the church bylaws and will be available for review by the membership of the congregation.
